Case N° 03 — 05
Lilt
Title sequence · 2024 · Series, six episodes
The brief
Lilt is a series about small sounds — a plucked string, a struck match, a door that almost closes. The producers wanted titles with the same restraint: no montage, no fireworks, forty seconds that tune the ear before the story starts.
What we made
One cobalt line, drawn in time with the score. We animated to the stems, not the mix — the line hesitates where the cello hesitates and resolves half a beat before the picture does, so the audience leans in without knowing why.
Type enters the way sound does: a name fades up like a note decaying, then holds. The toolkit ships with six timing variants so each episode keeps its own tempo inside one hand.
Outcome
— They timed the line to the music rather than the clock. The opening now settles the room before each story.
